I am just a beginner so i might be wrong about this, but if i am I would like to understand why. In this lesson : "Learn & Play Song: Three High", the instructor says he is going to play "4 strums of our G chord" but then proceeds to fret the E chord. Did I misunderstand the order of the chords?

I'm assuming you mean this lesson.

Anders plays the simple G major chord first.  Maybe you are misunderstanding which chord is which?  They look very similar.

The G major chord has the 3rd fret on the high E string with open B & G.  The E minor chord has the 2nd fret of the D string with the open G, B & E.

Hope that helps!
