What is the proper way to position the right hand for acoustic and electric guitar playing with a pick?

Is there a way to search the forum posts for key words?

Thanks.

Re holding and playing with a pick, watch and read this. Note paragraph 8. "You can also place the side of your hand (or palm) on the guitar, bridge saddles or strings. I encourage you to experiment with all of them. The idea here is to find a good place for your arm to rest and from which your picking hand can pivot."

Continues with more on posture and technique here

Re your second question re the search engine, not effectively any more. The new forum is even more broken than the one it superseded.

Hi Sidney,

Just checking in: did the advice manXcat pointed you towards help you narrow down a way of holding the pick that feels more comfortable and secure for you? It is a lot about experimentation, and giving each technique a good long try, to see which one(s) show the most promise for you,

All best wishes, and have fun! - Lisa
