Hi all does anyone have an exercise I can do to help with spacing my fretting middle finger and ring finger? I currently do several spider exercises and they don't seem to help with those two fingers. Also I'm 57 so probably a little tighter than a younger person. Thanks!

I can't help you with exercises, funny the spiders aren't helping, but here is an idea for old guys like us. I just picked up this 3/4 size Ibanez. Yes it's a kid's guitar, but with only a 22" scale it is some friendly to play. If you like Chuck Berry type stuff, having those frets closer together is very nice indeed! And dirt cheap to boot.

This year the diet is definitely gonna stick!

This last one is aimed at your pinky, but the nature of the exercise will help with your middle & rings fingers also.

If it's strecthing you want this exercise should do it.  If not the best strecthing workout I've found, it certainly seems to be the most intense.  Especially after you move it to the realm of the first three or four frets.  https://www.justinguitar.com/guitar-lessons/finger-stretching-exercise-te-101   .

Good luck, have fun.

Hi John

good to see him struggling a little.

I'm finding my pinky is muting more than I realised but the strangest was usung 3 and 4 together.

Both on 5th string and my 3rd finger was just totally disconnected and unable to move at all.

There is a Pumping Nylon Spider exercise which is totally different to the GT spider walk

Loads of Scott Tennant on youtube and many others covering his exercises.

Try Merce Font, good Barre finger exercises
