I'm lost.

Hello everyone.

I'm only being playing guitar for a year now, all learned by my own. I started with playing with tablatures and I'm allmost stocked there. I feel that I really would try do something else, but when I'm trying to improvise I either steeling some riffs here and there and mix them, or I try to play some different chords. But none these helps me.

I feel like I'm not really sure how to continue and improve my skills. Do anyone of you have any suggestions how I should leave those tabs and start doing something on my own?

If you're just memorizing tabs, you're not going to advance your talents much. Learn some theory, some pentatonic progressions and come up with you own licks. Check my lessons for some ideas...Cheers,

Dude, find songs with slow mid eights or half time sections, or long solos. Then just jam over it. Learn a small part of a scale and just mess around with the notes in it.

the 12th fret of the 3rd string is the root in the above case, moved the pattern up two frets and its then A major.

And have fun whtever you do with your guitar. I agree with AXl that youshould mess around with scales, chords. Try some wierd combinations. Play with your effectst, a guitar is capable of doing many more sounds than plain playing

Well, thanks everyone for answering my question. I think I have to learn more about those scales you talk about, perhaps also learn more chords.
