For some stupid reason I have neglected sweeping all the years ive been playing guitar, but now I want to start. Ive looked at some of the easy sweeping tricks on here, but I cant understand HOW to actually do it, and I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to give me an overview of what i do to actually sweep, cause its all very good having the tabs but i dont actually understand what i do!

hi ice, sweep picking is exactly what the name says, basicly take one of the tabs that shows the arpegio and what you do is sweep the pick across the strings with no hesitation all with one fluid motion and follow the pick with you left hand. i hope this helps.it took me a while to get the hang of it to. but once you do you will amaze yourself at the new dimension you just added to your style. good luck and happy jammin.
play music unto the lord in a manner of praise.

Try focusing on your picking hand technique and motion first ... Start with easy 3-string sweeping like metallica's "lepper messiah" solo ... You'll know what to do after that .

You have to move your right hand as you would do with a chord and as you are picking the strings you need to press the frets of the arpegio or scale you are in. Start very slowly and you'll get the hand of it. Remember that you should leave a note ringing until you fret the other one.
