Ok I know that there are only guitar freaks here(i'm too) but evrybody should agree that there are some great bands in which guitar playing appears in quite a little quantities. Mine favs are Depeche Mode, Unkle, The Streets, Gorilaz, Morphine, Asian Dub Foundation, Portishead and many more.
What are yours?

the classics:
bach
mozart
beethoven
pachabel
paganini
rossini
wagner
To improve technique and of course trying to keep all as clean as possible. I know my own limits and speed limits and so on I never play anything I'm not capable of. That wouldn't make any sense. After three years of playing I tried to play everything as fast as possible and that sounded, I would say, like shit, and I didn't realize that if I'd play bit slower things than I was capable of playing then everything would sound much better.

I listen to old egyptian music sometimes.

I like classic stuff , specialy when it involves instruments from the violin family (they're my fav after the guitar) ... Paganini , Beethove , Motzart , Bach are my fav classic musicians.

I sometimes like Enigma , Kenny G & stuff like that ... Sometimes I find good melodies in pop music , but it's realy rare so I don't remember names.

Finally , I realy enjoy watching videos for Shakira, Britney Spears , Spice Girls & similar artists .... But after muting the volume for sure . :p

Queen are/was AMAZING. I know there are lotĀ“s guitars but the guitars dosenĀ“t dominate theyr music (my opinion). ItĀ“s MercuryĀ“s voclas wich is outstanding. I would proudly say that Queen was one of the BEST bands in the 70Ā“s.

I donĀ“t mind listen to radio and all those hit songs but honestly after a couple days it just drives you nuts.

Also, Sly when it comes to those sexy girls, I find Shakiras voice pretty cool. Britney sucks and Agullira knows how to sing but she seems to live in her own porno world nowdays. Also I always get amazingly impressed when I hear Carey/Huston/Dion sing.

But somthing that I just canĀ“t stand is techno/rave stuff. I rather have a mega loud tinitus than listen to that crap.

Some of the best music I've heard for years was from the film Amelie (which is well well worth watching, it's by a guy called Yann Tiersen and has lots of beautiful piano.

Aside from that i dig crazy pianists like Rachmaninov and Chopin and violin stuff like vivaldi's four seasons.
If I couldn't laugh at myself how could I laugh at someone less ridiculous?

Ben Folds Five absolutely rule!
its the kind of 'hey, lets get happy' music! its awesome, plus I quite like the piano parts, and the unusual set up of piano, bass and drums is a cool thing to hear!

Flamenco/Spanish music ( I don't know if that counts since it is mostly guitar oriented)
Tenor SAx players kick ass! There's a lot of tenor players who can play circles around some of the most accomplished guitar players. Check out Micheal Brecker (amazing) Chris Potter, Bob Berg, Bob Malach, etc...these guys are all chop monsters. For those who prefer more traditional flavors there's always Charlie Parker (yeah, yeah, I know he's not a tenor player but he's still cool).
