Brand new PRS SE Custom 24 Power Jack loose... Any

Greetings everyone,

So I purchased a PRS SE Custom 24 about a month ago. Even though I'm a newbie, I wanted to start with a quality guitar to keep my interest. And it has! I consider this guitar to be my baby! Problem is my baby suddenly has a loose power jack. I'm hesitant to use pliers to tighten it in the event that I accidentally strip it. I'm also hesitant to use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the two small screws holding the power jack in, because I've never really worked on a guitar before. Does anybody have any suggestions about what I should do next? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

By the way, I can still be returned, but I would much rather avoid that considering the logistics of boxing it up shipping it and having a replacement sent and so forth.

If you don't want to mess with the guitar which I can understand then the first thing I'd to is contact the company you bought it from. They may have someone in your area who can fix it at no cost. Maybe they'd reimburse you if you have to take it to a non-authorized dealer. Neither you nor them want you to have to send it back. I'm going to say that for someone with experience this will be an easy fix.

ETA: When you say "loose" do you mean mechanically loose (things rattle) or electronically loose (the sound cuts out)?

Thanks for your excellent advise -- I'll reach out PRS tomorrow. Thankfully, it's just a mechanical issue (a rattling nut or screw), not electrical, which I think would be more serious.

Besides playing, electric guitars can be fun to mess with. Dan Erlewine has some excellent books on maintaining and upgrading electric guitars. Even if you don't have an immediate desire to do such they're still very informative.

If it's the nut on the threaded input you can take a 13 mm socket (I have PRS and it's 13mm) and tighten it till it's snug. Finger tighten if you are worried about stripping it. PRS has pretty good customer service so they will be able to help determine how to fix and if it's minor. [br][br][br]

just take the back plate off and hold the jack socket as you tighten it, there's really no need to contact PRS as it's such a simple fix and something you will come across again at some point playing guitar.
