Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening,

My name is Anthony and I have just recently started learning how to play the guitar (electric) and I have been progressing through the beginner material smoothly however I wanted some insight/knowledge and any recommendations on a unique situation I have involving my pinky.

Back in high school, many moons ago, I suffered a fractuce and dislocation on my left hand pinky, had 2 surgeries on it and the current state it is in is permanent (pictures attached).

I am able to put my pinky on the strings and apply pressure close to the fret however the pinky is very stiff and cannot bend well at all.

So I am seeking the expertise and recommendation from anyone who might be able to tell me if I shoud switch to left-handed guitar? I've had someone tell me in the past the the pinky is seldomly used in guitar but... I find that train of thought to just be completely limiting from the experience.

Any help or recommendation is really appreciated!

I write left handed however perform a lot of things with my right hand (don't know if that information would be of any help) =P

Cheers

Edit: For some reason, the pictures are not showing up so I uploaded along with the link to the video.

Hey Anthoroszko! The pinky is important when playing guitar. Especially being able to play chords. Since you have a unique physical situation, I would suggest working with your physical therapist on helping your pinky regain mobility. Otherwise, I will suggest booking a 1on1 lesson with one of our instructors so they can take a personalized look at what's going on, and give you ways to move forward. You can find booking schedule here: https://www.guitartricks.com/pro/
