Root five strumming

For the root five strumming, is it the same for all the different types of inversions for each chord like D7,Dsus, etc ?

Root-5 strumming implies you would play the root note & the 5th of the chord as the alternating bass notes.

But you can of course play any note of the chord using any particular inversion. Especially if it's 2 of the lowest notes in the chord helping to support the bass motion that technique usually creates. However, if you play the 3rd it's going to create a different sound. It just depends on the musical context as to whether or not you want that sound.
