So for fingerpicling ,if I play my guitar upside down , so my thumb can be on the thinner strings and the rest of the finger be on the thick strings?

That's an impractical solution for a few reasons.
1. In order to play right handed, you'd have to restring your guitar every time you wanted to use finger picking technique.
2. If you flip your guitar without restringing it you will have to switch hand functions! Now your fretting hand is your picking hand & vice versa.
It's a much more practical solution to learn how to fingerpick with your guitar as is.
Anders has a good intro to finger picking in the Acoustic style course.
