Newbie question:

I broke my G 3 string and was wondering if you can simply purchase one string or need to break up a 6 string pack in order to restring. Thanks

you can buy a single string of the same gauge.

not all brands have single strings so depending what you have on the guitar you may not get an exact match.

Buy 2 packs next time you change strings

Not expensive

Also depending how long you've had them on the guitar it might be worth changing the whole set anyway so all strings have same wear conditions

Most music stores will sell you just one string.

I buy whole packs of just high E strings & D strings because I break those more frequently than other strings & then change one string as necessary as long as the rest of the strings are still in decent condition.

I wind up restringing the whole guitar after a couple of weeks of use.

Sometimes you can buy single strings off Amazon usually Dadario strings.

Just be careful with the price, because just sometimes the price for one string is not much cheaper than a whole set.

I used to snap the high e string when fitting it in the early days before refining my technique
