I'm just about finished with Guitar Fundamentals 2 and am unsure on what to work on next. I intend to do both the Blues Style and Rock Style lessons but any thoughts on which to do first? Does either one provide a foundation for the other?

Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Eisele24, the primary consideration should be do whichever one interests you the most. After all, if you're not interested, you won't stay motivated and stick with it.

I was in the same spot as you a couple of months ago, finishing Fundamentals 2 and deciding which genre to do next. The deciding point for me is that Blues is the foundation of Rock, especially early Rock. So I am currently working my way through Blues 1 and working on songs in both the Rock and Blues genres. The plan is to move onto Rock once I finish the Blues. But that's me.

Based on different postings to this Forum, many have gone directly to Rock.

In the end, do whichever feels right for you.

Jim

Thanks Jim -- was thinking the same thing in terms of blues influencing many of my favorite rock artists (Zeppelin, Stones, Clapton, etc) so leaning in that direction.

Glad to see someone's in the same position as me. I had a look at the two courses and decided that the Blues one will stand me in greater stead, given that I'm more interested in 60s/70s rock rather than contemporary stuff. Also, it's fun to muck around with old blues phrases and songs on an acoustic in a way that you can't quite do with rock - I really want to pick up some old Robert Johnson and Son House tunes,
