Hi I am new here - but can anyone point me to the right lessons to get a start in learning basic lead Guitar on this site.
Learn Lead Guitar
Hi Mark
I am not sure if you have checked out the Fundamentals courses, but if not it is a great place to start. Lisa goes over basic foundations like scales.
When you hear you favorite lead guitarist they are essentially playing scales. Its a bit more complicated than that, but there are a lot of big names that have made a living off the pentatonic scale(s).
Making music out of those scales takes creativity, technique and practice. Otherwise you end up doing scales and nobody wants to listen to scale practice.
So to answer your question directly, if that is your only interest right now, do a search for "lead guitar". It is going to bring up all sorts of lessons. However, I think you are cheating yourself if you don't give Fundamentals a good shot before hand. It really does give you a good foundation of "why" things work together.
Whatever you decide, good luck.
This year the diet is definitely gonna stick!
Hey & welcome to GT!

It depends on your goals, current knowledge & skill level. In general, the best plan is to pick a style course & some songs with easy leads or single note lines & dive in! Blues, Country & Rock style courses all have chapters on lead playing.

I have a lot of tutorials aimed at learning & building lead guitar skills. Depending on your current skill level or desired style of music, these are a great suppliment to the material in the courses.
For example tutorial collections are a great way to build the basic skills of lead licks. Even though they are aimed at blues style, the physical skills & actual licks taught are fully applicable to any other genre.
