I am wondering why you don't use your pinky between the fourth and fifth fret?

Hey Ian! There's no particular reason that I use the ring finger for the 4th and 5th fret - I just got into a flow and went with it. There are many ways to fret that riff, and using both the ring and pinky or only the pinky will certainly get the job done! So, yes, it's totally okay to use your pinky there!
