Actually i think all those "best whatever" are not realy usefull - apart from the fact that everyone has his own personal hero from whom he thinks he is the best on the planet - the fact is that the stuff you hear from most of those dudes is just a small glimpse of what they actually can do on their instrument. its just what the music demands. a mindboggling fast and adventurous bass-line would just not fit into a slowplaying band. Also i´m quite sure that even dudes like john myung are not showing all of their skill - if he gives 70% its enough by far.
