Playing the G chord with the pinky G position and the pad of the ring finger touches the 5th string, I have tried moving my arm forward but it didn't help at all, I guess my finger pads are too bumpy. Need serious help here.

TIA.

it's not an easy chord for us beginners.

Are you leaning the guitar back towards you to allow you to see finger placements etc.

I sometimes find that I'm touching strings and by taking the guitar more upright it allows the fingers to be at a better angle to the fretboard.

Otherwise you just have to keep lifting and alternating the placing fingers until you find what suits.

Then when you have learned it they give you another F,C and G chord to use which means going back to using 1st and 2nd fingers again.
