hey everyone,
a late merry christmas and a happy new year.

i'm a guitarist and i love playing with no intentions of quitting. but i'm buying my friend's second-hand bass because i've messed around with bass before and i'm interested in just being competent with it.

i was just wondering if anyone knew any good books and especially if people knew any WEBSITES that would help me to start learning bass guitar. books are helpful, but websites are WAY more helpful. also, if anyone has any bass tips to post, please go ahead.
Thanks for listening to this small piece of me.

I think cyberfret has a bass satelite site. I think its http://www.cyberfretbass.com, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I've never been, its just the only one I've heard of.

thanks everyone, this thread is kind of weird. i started it just after christmas, and i'm getting like 2 posts a month or something. i'm not insulted, it's just humorous compared to some threads that pile up in a matter of days or even hours.
anyways, thanks to everyone who contributed, i don't think i need any more links. good stuff and thanks again.

that's something i found out for myself. i was playing a friend's bass and i would just naturally use three finger(probably from my playing classical). he would be like, just use two man. but i could play stuff just as well as him using that technique. one other guy only used one finger, i was all confused. weird.
well, thanks.

I've even read about bass players who use all 5 digits. They dont just use the thumb for slapping, sometimes they pick with it.
