Nah, im glad nu metal is being put out, theres only so much heavily distorted bollocks one guy can take in his lifetime.

Then again this 'Garage Rock' stuff isn't much better.

I think its great personally.

Listen to the Datsuns if ya wanna hear great riffs and squealing solos (MF From Hell, In Love)

Listen to the White Stripes for primitive roots bluesy rock (Hotel Yorba, Dead Leaves and Dirty Ground)

Listen to the Strokes for more laid-back 70's rock with surprisingly good guitar solos(Hard To Explain, New York City Cops)

Listen to the Hives when your drunk, its the way its intended (Supply & Demand, Main Offender)

I hate the White Strpes. Jack White is a dork.

I think he's pathetic. He plays on cheap little guitars cause good quality ones apparently dont have soul, and then he complains about how SRV made the blues more complicated than it had to be. C'mon, he played that well cause he could, he never wanted to compicate the blues. Then again, maybe its just to complicated for Jack White cause he could never play it.

Its just the opposite of all these "great" guitarist complaining about people who arent as technically perfect as themsleves becuase they arent as good on guitar as themselves. Jack White has written 4 albums(3 released, one impending) in 2 years with decent guitar work and doesnt get the credit he deserves because he doesnt practice 25 hours a day, eight days a week(great Beatles song). I have to stick up for him in this case - he has ten times as much talent as half of the "technically superior" guitarist doing the rounds these days.

I guess there are some decent guitarists out there, and maybe as you say they have some killer solos, but I sure dont hear em on the music channels.

I dont think that the white stripes bloke is any good. His riffs are uninspiriing and technically boring.

When you compare what he does to the competent and inventive stuff im used to hearing from guitarists such as Steve Vai, John Petrucci and SRV it just doesnt compare.

Any idiot can release a commercial album, take Sum 41 and The Hives, so theres no point in telling us how many albums hes released. ONE song created by Vai is better than 3 albums created by the white stripes.

The Hives' songs consist of 1 riff and a catchy lyical piece over the top of it. purely made for the sake of commerciality. They have no passion for what they are doing, to me it seems as though they are just out for your money.

Actually if youve been paying attention youll know that the Hives, the White Stripes, the Hellacopters etc. have been going for years - only recently getting commercial success BECAUSE OF THEIR LOVE FOR THE MUSIC.

And Vai was just as commercially successful in the 80s

The hives' earlier stuff still shares the same qualities as their new stuff though.

But fine, you're entitled to your opinion. Its cool man.

be merciful all mighty Rask,

for he knows not the errors of his ways.

seriously though, music like any other thing in this world is evolving. its a continuous process. years from now our kids will laugh at the stuff we listen to.

To improve technique and of course trying to keep all as clean as possible. I know my own limits and speed limits and so on I never play anything I'm not capable of. That wouldn't make any sense. After three years of playing I tried to play everything as fast as possible and that sounded, I would say, like shit, and I didn't realize that if I'd play bit slower things than I was capable of playing then everything would sound much better.
