Wana discuss one guitarist for a week every week.

I personally think he's the greatest guitarist of all time, an awesome improvisor as well as the most iconic stylish player of all time.
When i saw him playing "Black or White" with wacko I was blown away!
Any funny rock stories or interesting things you know bout him?

I heard a few years ago he was rehearsing with the guy outta Chic, and he did a neck bend and snapped the neck off and it whacked in his face, busting his chin open. He numbed it with a bottle of JD instead of having stitches.

Hmm, Slash let´s see:

Born in England (1965) but raised since his early age in L.A. Real name Saul Hudson. His grandmother bought his first guitar, a spanish guitar with two strings. Was an outsider in school and loved BMX bikes. First song he learned was Stairway To Heaven. Played guitar for 10 hrs evry day wich I by the way really really doubt. Axl didn´t like his playn´ style at first ´cause he thought Slash was to bluesy. During Guns years, Slash became famous and evrything that fame includes (drugs, sex with pornstars (Savanah), attitude problem, alchol problem, great music)
Quit GNR after huge fight with Axl. Started his own Slash´s Snake Pit wich realesed two albums so far. His fav. Metallica song is Disposable Heroes and fav. Metallica album Master Of Puppets. Plays Gibson Les Paul guitars through Marshall JCM amps.

That´s about it. Great player.

i couldnt of said it better..but i think it was a one string that he played! :). His first guitar was a epiphone that a parent of whom a kid he was baby sitting gave to him cuz they come home one day and caught him playing. I heard he used to play on the bus where ever he went he would play. More info about him would be that his main axe is a '87 standard les paul with seymour duncan alcino 2 pickups. Owns 90 guitars..blah blah, has 7 speical edition slash signture les pauls...has his own series of amps... ummmmmmmm....and his the best guitarist i have ever seen in my mind...but just in my mind.

p.s. that story about bending the neck is killer! lol !

WWSD? What would stevie do?

He was 11 when he moved to LA, before that he lived near Stoke in mid England. It was a 1 stringed guitar his 1st one. He played his 1st gig at the age of 16 at a house party n the band sucked apparently. As everyones saying bout his equipment he used Ernie Ball 0.11-0.48 strings, and uses a Dunlop wha pedal and a Boss GE-7 eq pedal to boost the mids on the solo's. Oh n his new wife are expecting or have recently had a baby (can't remember when it was due). I do believe he's been in rehab for heroin abuse too. The last time I heard he had 96 axe's to be precise. N he met Steve Adler (Guns 1st drummer) when Steve fell off his skateboard n Slash went over to see if he was ok. I've heard he is still working with Izzy, Matt and Duff on Izzy's new record.

I play a Epiphone and frequently use the neck. But I never bend to much. Somtimes I bend the string behind the nut wich is the oposite to neck bend sound. Would be easyer to buy a guitar with a whammy but no way. Neck bend and behind nut bend work pretty fun but of course you can´t do Vai tricks ´cause it´s extremlly limited unless you bend too hard and than break the neck and get strings all over your face. Slash have at least protection, his huge hair.
