Hi everyone. Just getting started here. Two things have been on my bucket list for a long time: 1. Build a guitar. 2. Learn to play it. Item 1 is complete.

That is a beautiful guitar. Do you have any pictures of it at different points in the build process?

It takes as long as it takes unless you quit - then it takes forever and you will never get there.

Thanks, everyone. Yes, DavesGuitarJourney, I have lots.

This is where the fun started. It doesn't look like much, but there is nice mahogany under the peeling paint.

That's beautiful, well done! What a great skill to have being able to craft your own instrument.

Good luck on your journey to learning to play it.

AND IT IS MADE OF RECYCLED LUMBER AND IT'S CONSTRUCTION IS WELL DOCUMENTED! Now I really am impressed. If this is how you got this whole guitar thing started, you really do have a leg up on being motivated to practice, practice, practice. That instrument is so beautiful it really needs to sing! WAY TO GO.

OMG!!!!!!! I'm glad I asked to see the photos. That is spectacularly beautiful. That has to be even more encouraging to play.

Thanks for sharing those pictures. How long did this take? You clearly have a lot of skill and a well equipped workshop, which leads me to ask what your background is. Is that a result of a lifetime hobby and gradually building up the shop, or is it your profession?

That's not just a "guitar". That is a real price of art! When you said I've made one I thought it might be a kit and I might give it a go! Then those pictures of the work and I'm totally over awed!! Amazing.

It went much quicker than I expected; 18 days. I have a desk job, lol. And I am much less equipped than you may be thinking. I used an ancient table saw, a spindle sander, a router, saber saw, cordless drill, random orbit sander, an angle grinder and the normal complement of hand tools. If I were to do it again, I would buy a jigsaw and a drill press.

I'm no master craftsman. I'm just a guy who likes to work with my hands and take on challenges. I figure things out as I go, make plenty of mistakes, then figure out how to fix them.
