Hello,

I am wondering if its me that is finding Lisa McCormicks songs too long and monotonous in the beginner section. None of the songs that are taught as part of the power pack chords are recognizable. Are they all made up by the instructor? Unable to relate to songs that I listen is stalling my progress any tips?

Dont blame the tools Giri. The songs serve a purpose.

As Lisa says in her lesson, the songs, if nothing else, should be viewed as an exercise to improve your chord changes. I understand that some songs can be boring to play, but in the fullness of time they'll have been a stepping stone to your next level of playing and can be left behind as you progress to more complex things.

I feel the same way about 95% of the licenced songs on the site. I find them boring and that's ok. Music is subjective. However, it hasn't stopped me learning a couple of them just to improve my overall ability.

like learning many new things, there is often pain before the pleasure. Hang on there.

I think Lisa’s songs are mostly for learning chord changes and they have helped me a lot. Some are boring but there is a few I really enjoy, the last song on chapter 7 of fundamentals 1 on 3/4 strumming is really nice “With you I Am Whole”. Maybe I’m mistaken but some of the lyrics almost sound Christian.

Here's the deal with Lisa ... she's awesome, and her choice of songs has a purpose. Specifically, she's trying to get you used to making the changes in the easiest way possible. By doing so, musical concepts and muscle memory are reinforced. Yeah, some of the tunes may be boring but, in the end, they are easy to play and build confidence. Trust me, you'll be glad you participated in this rudimentary, but necessary exercise. Lisa really knows her stuff.

Lisa is a great teacher! She oozes patience. Has a warm smile. A calm demenor. And explains things very well. We are lucky to have her, in my opinion.

Lisa's songs, as others have said, serve a purpose to get you changing chords on time and in rhythm.

But- if you'd like to practice with other songs, there is a list of recommended songs under each chapter that goes along with the level you are at. Under Chapter Four, the recommended songs are:[br]Simple Man (Made Easy), Speed of the Sound of Loneliness (Made Easy), The Boys Of Summer (Made Easy), Every Rose Has Its Thorn (Made Easy), I Am A Man Of Constant Sorrow (Made Easy), Wide Open Spaces (Made Easy),

I'm doing both Lisa's songs and trying out the other recommended songs. It all helps!

I echo all of the other supportive comments about Lisa. I find her lessons to be very helpful and wish she were available for individual lessons.
