Having a little trouble with the frets

So I have been practicing the first exercise on my acoustic guitar. The one exercise where it's one finger per fret.

I'm having a little trouble but I have progressed to not having to watch my fingers the entire time. But the cords still sound muted occassionally due to my mistake in my left finger positioning on the fret.

If there are any people past this point... How long did it take you to get this one finger per fret down?

I had the same problem, we all have. Take your time and ensure that your fingers are placed correctly. The skill is the placement, not the looking away. That will come with time.

Also your soft fingers are probably spreading a bit. Again time is your friend. Your fingers will build some lovely callouses.

Dont rush the early drills they build a good foundation.
