I'm a seasoned beginner, 60yo, been messing with guitars for years, start then quit, never really staying with it, could never find a good beginner course. I have electric guitars, I see the beginner course starts with acoustic guitar, would electric guitar work with this course?
Thinking about signing up.
You should have an easier time with the course because electrics are thought to be easier to play. But fuzzb0x is right... techniques and fundamentals are the same between the two instruments.
Best of luck, have fun.

I am 64 i came back to playing a couple of years ago. i have a couple of electric and some seriousley good sounding acoustics. my best mix is electric acoustic and a lovely tanglewood to prove my point. Electric guitars are good to learn on as the action is usualy much lighter but, don't plug it in, much quieter to learn with. if you want to be Eric Clapton or Mark Knopfler youve probably left it to late if you want to have fun, take any course and learn to love making music.

@peninsulamike I am older than you or @chrislathbury. I probably started when about Chris' age. I went through Fundamentals I on an electric. I don't even remember it being taught on acoustic.
You'll do great learning on an electric. And, yes, the cost is very reasonable.
Have fun! btw, there are a lot of us AARP members on here!

I too have been on and off different guitar training courses. I gave up years ago and came back very recently. This is the best site I have found so far to learn guitar. You still have to apply yourself or you will get nowhere, but the lesson progression here and the way they train has been head and shoulders above any other site I have found.
I play a Fender Stratocaster and yes, you will be fine with an electric guitar.
