Wich one is your favourite guitar period. Is it 50-s, 60-s, 70-s, 80-s 90-s our 2000.

I personally like 80-s most when shred came and when guitar playn´ went really extreme. 90-s pretty good too.

Well its really hard to say what the "finest" guitar period was because each period is so different with its own unique sounds. The 80's (which I was born in hehe) were all about lead guitar, every song had a solo in it. Now in the 2000's you very very very rarely hear a guitar solo unless its by one of the older bands. But you can't necessarily say thats a good thing or a bad thing. I personally would like to hear more solo's in today's music but I also like all the power chords and heavy riffs being put out today by new groups. Just my opinion.

I like the 80's best two. I was born in the 80's too. I am hugely influenced by 80's guitar playing, you might even call me a child of the 80's, with my big glasses and long hair.
And God said, 'Let there be rock!'

I mainly like the mid-late 60's and 70's for all music in general. For guitar i liked the major solos that came from Led Zeppelin and Styx.

I have to agree on that.

As far as guitar goes though, I think nothing beats the present.

The 80's of course!
Blazing solos!

Long hair, pink and green clothing, strange guitars,
brutal stage shows, blazing solos, trash metal,
metallica, twisted sister, kiss, alicer cooper,
randy rhoads, def leppard, cinderella, ozzy,
blood, effects, dirt, skating, etc etc etc etc....
Nothing beats the 80's!!

As far as guitar goes, everything beats the present.

MY opinion is that the 80's suck big time. In MY opinion it is the time of stereotypical, greasy rockandroll music.
I like the 90's best -- it was a period in which original musicians succeded and it wasn't the shredding that made you a kick ass.
Also 60's for the grat music, as some people said before me.
Also present for some great indie bands who make indeed unique music: the names in Ninja Records catalogue.

I was also born in the 80s but really don't like that era. Mine would go 70s, 90s, 60s, 00s if you consider that there is any.

There is afterall a BIG difference when you compare Kid Rock to bands like Candiria or The Urge.

You mean MTV has actually takes breaks from brain nullifying, in-crowd oriented "reality" shows to play something resembling music?

Who'da thunk it!

Image is so important in the music industry these days. It's like it's ok to drool over fit people so long as you can pretend it's because of some other talent like their singing or something. It's crappy. Just look on top of the pops or whatever and you'll see that its rare for an ugly woman to be successful. I don't think there's much correlation between attractiveness and musical talent. Granted some mentally handicapped people (who presumably are less musical since musical abillity is masrginally related to mathematical abillity apparently) are generally less physically attractive but this can't explain the massively obvious trend. Lets face it, what really happens is that people who look like models decide to pursue a career in singing and some of them really can sing but mostly other people write songs for them that are designed to exploit their appearance and don't actually provoke any thought originating from above waist height!
What's any of that got to do with music? Bugger all.
If I couldn't laugh at myself how could I laugh at someone less ridiculous?

It's all marketing. It sells. That's the only thing that matters.(for record companies at least)

That doesn't mean there's no excellent music being released though. There's just not much chance of hearing it on the radio or seeing it on TV. You gotta dig a bit deeper.

And like the previous poster said, it has always been like this, and it's not about to change either.
