It's all marketing. It sells. That's the only thing that matters.(for record companies at least)

That doesn't mean there's no excellent music being released though. There's just not much chance of hearing it on the radio or seeing it on TV. You gotta dig a bit deeper.

And like the previous poster said, it has always been like this, and it's not about to change either.
