Hello all. 3 months into learning guitar and I have a question regarding thumb vs pick. It may be an age thing, but I am finding it so much easier to learn just using my thumb vs using the pick. I can use a pick and do, but section over section, I am much more comfortable with my thumb and much smoother. As soon as I "pick up" the pick, its like my 2 hands are no longer talking to each other. Bizarre??!!

Is this something that experience may overcome? Thoughts are welcomed and appreciated. Thanks!

You can buy thumb plectrums that actually clip onto your thumb, it may be worth you trying one of these and see how you get on with that.

There is nothing wrong with playing only using your thumb and fingers, "Mark Knopfler" is a fine example. However I would certainly stick with each technique until you can grasp it. Sometimes we just cant get it. I've tried and tried to play with a thump pick but no luck. I love hybrid picking though.
