There are many different ways to play any given chord on the guitar. The G5 power chord is a diad (2 notes) that consists of the notes:
G - 1st (root)
D - 5th
And anywhere on the guitar (or any instrument!) you can find those 2 notes & play them together is a G5.
In the case of the Chord Finder it's showing 5 possible places to just combine G & D. For example:
|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|
|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|
|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|
|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|
|-----|-----|-----|-----|--D-|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|
|-----|-----|--G-|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|
Or here:
|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|
|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|
|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|
|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|--D-|-----|
|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|--G-|-----|-----|-----|
|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|
In GF2 Lisa is showing you a G5 power chord that doubles the root note G
|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|
|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|
|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|
|-----|-----|-----|-----|--G-|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|
|-----|-----|-----|-----|--D-|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|
|-----|-----|--G-|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|-----|
It's not necessary to play that higher G to play a G5, but Lisa is adding it as a means of helping you get your pinky into the act & eventually get to the full barre chords! So, it's a good teaching option to add that extra root note.
Make sense? Hope that helps. Please ask more if necessary. Best of success with the rest of GF2!
