I've been checking out Carvin guitars lately on the net, and they seem to be pretty good, from the sound samples i downloaded. I know ponyone is getting a thinline electric/acoustic from carvin probably, but what do you guys think of Carvin?

I've been checking out a bunch of their guitars, seems like a great deal, i mean not too expensive...

Well I have never bought or even played a Carvin guitar, I have bought a few parts from them over the years, I have a Carvin neck and tuners on my tele-style guitar, I'll just say everything I've bought from Carvin is very good quality and worth the money, ...............

I think Carvin guitars look hideous, but looks aren't everything.....I like that mellow kinda tone Alan Holdsworth gets from them, it really compliments his style. I've never played one myself as I've been unable to find a dealer so I can't really say more.

Pony, you do realize that you can customize your headstock at Carvin? For instance, if you have "Vintage Yellow on Quilt" for body color, you could get the same for the headstock (if you wanted, of course). You can also get you name on part of the headstock, which is cool.

Only thing which sucks is that im not sure if they do inlays on the headstock, such as the Tree of Life, or anything 'special' like that.

One thing that is annoying also is that you have to buy thier pickups. And...i haven't found a 3 humbucker model, yet...although for a $250 bucks or so they'd probably add one in there if i chose it...i'd just prefer Dimarzio's or Seymour Duncan's, i haven't tried Carvin pickups, or even a carvin, but im sure Dimarzio's and Seymours are better.

I haven't played a guitar from Carvin yet, but I plan on buying a 7 string from them pretty soon. I have bought a some equipment from them like pedals and they worked very good and are durable.

Carvins are very stylish, good looking and well constructed instruments. Everything they make is top quality. The price is descent too. They are constucted of quality material. A lot of hands on construction goes into the construction too. I know two people that own them and they have nothing but good things to say about them. I'm going to add one to my collection soon. Another thing I like about them is you have a lot of choice in what goues into your guitar. You have a lot of options to choose from.

There's no substitute for expeience. So get out there and break some strings on stage.

work at mcdonalds ;), thats how im payin' for my Gibson Les Paul Double Cut Away +...cost? $1090. Did a phat price match, and American Music Supply accepted it. what a deal! and i saved up for all that money in less than 3 months, working 2 days a week!
Then again, i don't have bills to pay or anything, im just livin off my parents (my plan is to get all the professional gear i need now, so that when i move out i won't have to buy all that much..decent plan eh?)

plus you live in a monstrous city, which doesn't help.

just wondering, has barnes and noble offered you a full time job, instead of part time?

This thread was probably started a long time ago, but oh well. I just wanted to inform y'all that I purchased a Carvin DC727 last week. I'm not a big fan of the looks of most Carvin guitars, but this one is a true beauty.
Jet-black finish combined with an ebony fretboard with no inlays. Looks very nice.
The way it plays is out of this world. I've been playing for about 10 years now, and this is definitely the best playing guitar I ever had my hands on. It sounds great, and after I upgrade the pickups it'll sound even better. Can't wait till I have the cash to do it! :)

Anyway, for whoever asked "what do you think about Carvins?", all I can say is that they're good, damn good!

I'm off to play some more with my new toy. :)
