Hi guys,
I buoght a Tascam US-224 recently. The leaving of Incidents_Happens left me thinking (for once!). I thought it would be cool for us to make a review of the new equipment we buy. So if you guys got a Tascam US-244 please share your knowledge and tips of it here.
First of all a tascam US-224 is a remote controller for recording software. It's USB and gives you the flexibility of an physical interface to do your recording. No more cliking here and there. If you're like me, you just hate does digital interface of preprogrammed settings. I love to turn buttons and move sliders to adjust my sound. Call me old fashion, I can take it.
The US-224 comes with a custom version of Cubasis. I does work great with Cubasis. It also works with Cubase but you will need to put it in emulation mode (US-428) ot be able to use every functions.
I still didn't figure out the right sequence to initialise the US-224 correctly before recording. It is also not well documented on the subject.
I got a little angry when I tried to get info on how I could use the US-224 with my cool edit pro V2.0 . Everywhere it says that it's supported but to this very minute I wasn't able to use it. Also if you live in canada and try to get technical support, forget it. The USA site replied to me saying my request could be answered locally and gave send me to a canadian website. The support centre is in Mississauga ONT. They don't even have an e-mail address so I have to make a long distance call to get support. This kind of bugs me since I paid 375 US for the damn thing.
Once you get around how to record multitrack, the Tascam is a good equipment, a little expensive for it's use.
I will post more info as I learn the full capabilities of the TASCAM US-224.
