If you upgrade to Windows XP, you'll need to upgrade the windows messenger.

If you don't patch your xp you'll get dropouts in your soundclips.

What I did is go to http://www.windowsupdate.com and updated everything that had to do with messenger. Solved my problem with dropouts.
