Hi

I'm a 'young at heart' male of 76. I have been 'dabbling' with guitar for a little while just for enjoyment and to keep the brain active. I have picked up quite a bit from various books and the internet but feel it would be more of an advantage to have some 'proper structure' to my learning. On starting my subscription I therefore restarted from the beginning which I think will ensure that I properly cover everything in a more meaningful and structured way. I am really enjoying the lessons and am happy that I took the plunge and signed up to Guitar Tricks.

Best wishes to all.

Kudos, to you sir. I’m 47 and committing to learning guitar myself.

Here is to hoping I have the same vigor and desire to continue playing when I’m your age!

At 57 I would consider myself a part of this club as well. Something that I've always wanted to do but could never find the time. I'm looking forward to moving ahead and learning something new.

Never too old...

I'm 47 and I'm starting to learn myself right from scratch!

I think learning later in life is actually a great time to learn something new. I have to say, I am really enjoying the process. There is a lot of positive progress, but also challenges. I find at my age, I'm a little more even keeled with that, and more self aware of not getting too frustrated. Again, I'm at a point where I'm just enjoying the process and the progression (no rush, no high expectations).

I'm also finding learning guitar has benefits on a couple of fronts. It's a great stress reliever, just to play and focus on nothing else. It's also a new hobby to keep my mind learning something new and to develop a new type of hand-eye coordination.

Just my thoughts...and good luck to all of you who are starting a little later in life!
