I just wanted to find a way to express my displeasure with the way the beginner lessons are set up on this site. I don't understand why they couldn't find some rock songs with simple chord progressions - I'm certain there are plenty - instead of having to learn to play a bunch of folk-music type songs that I don't like and don't want to learn. It seems to me that it would much more condusive to learning if I were learning to play songs I actually want to play instead of whatever the instructor wrote. I'm not knocking anyone's skills or abilities, it just isn't what I want to hear or play. I was doing pretty well initially - I learned most of the major and minor chords and then we got the part where we have play these instructor-written songs and I lost interest. Had I known then what I know now I would never have payed for a year in advance, now I'm just trying to maintain until my subscription runs out so I go elsewhere. When I decided to finally attempt to learn the guitar I did some research and came with what I thought were the three best websites for instruction and somehow chose this one, which I now regret. I am seriously disappointed with this choice, wishing I had went with another option.

Sorry you are disappointed!

There's a problem with putting copyrighted material in the curriculum courses. That's why the songs inside the courses are generic. Those are just exercises to get you playing the chords. Once you can play the chords in time, once you have the skills, then you are ready to play real songs! Please head over to the song catalog! GT puts the copyright protected material in a separate location because of publisher arrangements.

Another option is to check out the list of beginner level songs linked on the fundamental home page. These songs are picked as ones you can play with the knowledge & skills taught at that point in the course.

A lot of them come from the made easy catalog selections.

In the end, we understand if you choose to learn on another site. Thanks for giving us a chance! But while you're here I'd hate to see you miss out on what is available to you. If there's another song or style you are interested in, please ask! That's what the forum is for, to help direct students to the material they want to learn.

Hope this helps! Please ask more if necessary & best of success with your guitar playing!
