Just to bring the thread back to favourite guitarists, one of mine is jazz player Martin Taylor. His solo stuff is breathtaking. If you haven't seen him play, check out this vid. I confess to being a pretty mediocre guitar player, but surely to play in this way must take more skill than just shredding as fast as possible - bass, rhythm and lead all at the same time - genius.

For all of you who like Shawn Lane, I found a good bit of video of him playing some jazz in a club. Pretty tasty.

I have many guitarists that I like..........But if I had to pick just One.......Hands Down it would be Kirk Hammett of Metallica. Lets face it,the guy is just Plain Awesome. Another of my favorite guitarists is a guy by the name of Eddie Filareckie..........Plays for the Randall Zwarte' Band.....formerly known as Just Zwarte'. Did a bit of work for em when i was 18. Great bunch of guys! Check their site out at www.randallzwarteband.com

You think Syd Barrett is terrible? Bike is an awful idea for a song, and yet it's still pretty nifty to listen to. I admire Syd Barrett.

Let's face it - even if Piper At the Gates of Dawn was a waste of sound (which, in my opinion, it wasn't), it was an extremely important stage of Pink Floyd's development. Syd's influence brought out... I dunno... something in his fellow band members, which started them on a career that would see them produce thirty years' worth of magnificent music. Without Piper , there would be no Dark Side of the Moon (and if you hate that album, too, I may have to rip my hair out in despair).

LOL Oh, come on, man! I don't think a kooky art-rock album quite makes the travesty category alongside the slaughter of six million people...

LOL what can I say? Syd Barrett's kooky psychedelic rock doesn't horrify me quite as much as the slaughter of six million people...

I'm gonna have to side with Jolly. I cringe whenever I hear Syd Barrett.
