Ever since i was a young kid I always dreamed of being that guy that was able to jam out the November rain guitar solo and many many more. After a few trial and errors over the years i just kinda gave up on it. Im a father with children etc...im making up excuses now. Well interestingly enough my son had just turned 11 a month ago and he asked me for a guitar. I was shocked as he never told me he had any interest in guitars. Sooo..long story short, his will and desire brought the fuel back in me and now there is no way I will NOT learn how to do this. Im extremely new as like a 100% beginner. 3 days ago i walked into the local music shop and I ended up getting the package deal Epiphone Les Paul "AFD" Slash edition 2. Im not to familiar at all with how good it is or not but after doing research and reading some reviews i felt it was a safe pick to start off on. I wasnt trying to soend anything crazy until i get this down and the additioin of the amp was kinda cool also. I paid $309 for the package.

If anyone had any recommendations I am definitely all ears open as I am extremely determined to learn this. I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve. A 38 year old kid at that...lol. This website seems really damn cool..Ive been exploring it for last 2 hours..I really like it. With that said I look forward to feedback or anything anyone has to offer and my name is Will.

Hello from the HQ!

wzekus1979, it's good to have you hear in the Guitar Tricks community. Your son's desire to play guitar is something I can relate with, at least in an inverse way. You were inspired by your son's willingness to learn guitar, while I was inspired by my father's guitar playing. My dad had always been able to play a few licks and chords, and then one day we went out and came back with a little Squier Strat and a 30 watt amp. It was sweet.

From what you've said here, I'm confident that you will make steady progress but remember to have a ton of fun and don't ever feel discouraged if you're not making the progress you want. Learning an instrument and learning how to play music is like learning a language, and that takes time and a ton of practice.

Looking forward to hearing your progress!

Best,

Billy
