Welcome, Dhampir!
Browse through the Tricks section, as well as the Guitar Basics threads. I'm sure we can get you feeling better than your signature implies :)

Thank you for the words of encouragement. I am trying so hard. It is hard sometimes and I have owned a guitar for years and never really taken it seriously. I used to pick it up and then give up after a day cos there was no improvment. But now i am older and know that perserverance is the key. I can play the intro to sweet child of mine, all of Mama said by metallica and most of hero of the day! But now I am gonna pretend I know nothing and start from scratch! But cheers again. Its nice to have support!

Welcome pal
Keep all those magazines and the CD's that come with them (if any) Magazines have proven invaluable to me when learning new things....especially 'Guitarist'....if you live in england....if you dont, try their web page.
And dont pretend you know nothing, build on whatever you can do. Mama Said's a good one for the beginner. The last band I was with always used it to soundcheck before gigs coz its easy to warm up those fingers.

Also, start yourself off now and train yourself to learn material from CD's (or LP's as they were once known).
There's no better teacher than the experts who make records...plus it developes your ability to learn my ear.
(comes in majorly handy when you join a band and have to learn a ton of cover tunes).
Before you know it, you'll be able to tell what notes and chords are being played just by listening to em.
