Keep all those magazines and the CD's that come with them (if any) Magazines have proven invaluable to me when learning new things....especially 'Guitarist'....if you live in england....if you dont, try their web page.
And dont pretend you know nothing, build on whatever you can do. Mama Said's a good one for the beginner. The last band I was with always used it to soundcheck before gigs coz its easy to warm up those fingers.
