Hi all,

40s beginner here, just signed up a week or so ago and currently making gradual progress through the initial steps within the Core Learning System, love the structured method and Lisa McCormack's videos are great, love her style.

Significantly trying to be smoother in transition between the initial simple chords that are taught, also finger placement on the strings not always that great, quite frustrating at times but I'll get there, patience is the key no doubt.

Playing on a work colleague's Squire Strat at the moment but just ordered a Yamaha Pacifica 012 Strat, no going back now.

Regards,

Stuart

Hi and welcome to another newbie. I as well am a 51 year-old beginner to the guitar, took it in high school (way) back in 1982, nothing since then and remeber nothing either.

I purchased a Yamaha Pacifica Gigmaker bundle with the PAC012, and love it and Lisa's Beginner Lessons as well. Been working on them since mid-December, still finishing up the Beinner Lessons 1, Part 2 - simple chords, and am finding like you that practice is key, and patience with chord changes is so true ;-)

Hi John,

Good to hear from you..

Yeah the Yamaha PAC012 came very well recommended by my local guitar shop, plus seeing the many reviews online backed this up.

Good luck with your progression, as long as mine's going in the right direction I don't care how long it takes.

Yes, let me know when you get the Pacifica and how you like it. I think you will be very pleased!

I liked my friend's Squire Strat but the Pacifica is definetly better, feels more comfortable/easier to play, loving it..so glad I chose it..

Ah that pesky E to A gets me, start thinkin I'm gettin there until I play the song fully with Lisa at the end..inconsistent to say the least..thank god I'm not the only one lol..we will get there!

Great, glad you received and like your Pacifica! I did lots of research before I chose it (in a bumdle) over a couple others.

And yes, those chord changes are challenging for me as well. Still trying to avoid looking at my fingers (on the fretboard and/or the pick hand) as much as I can while practicing. Now if I could just get a longer pinkie :-)
