It's taken me months to get over the NZ Kiwi modesty and say hi. It has been fantastic to finally find a way to learn that works for me after many attempts in 3 countries, over 40 years, during which I never been able to get past the very basics on my old Epiphone Acoustic. Very gratifying to read about so many of my peers doing the same thing.
I will drag the Telecaster out of its case when I can play it like it deserves!
It's great fun to be part of GT.

Welcome to GT Doug...
I would dig out the old Tele and use both for practice...
Have a good time learning...

Well I am 62 years old and finally did it! I recently bought a Taylor 214 CE deluxe and here I am learning to play. I am really excited and each day can't wait to get on GT and my do my lesson!

Good for you!! Nice to see other old farts like myself working on playing guitar. I was a rhythm guitar player doing garage band rock and roll in the mid 60's and just now getting back into it after a 50 year break. It's never too late!!

I say play the Tele now. No reason to keep under wraps. Play a great guitar when you have it. I started with a Gibby Les Paul and it was a great guitar to learn on.

Good luck!

.....and for the record, when you're up to speed on your playing and you start writing songs, should you choose to do so, 'Learn Before I Die' is a great song subject...Think about all those kinda life lesson stories you could pack in there.

I'll second Jeff's comment about the great song title.
I just turned 60 and have been learning from other sites for about a year but feel I need a bit more.
I know what doug means about playing the Telecaster when you can play like it deserves! My better half has 3 electric guitars and I'm dying to play one but don't feel ready (even though they say electric guitars are easier - it doesn't feel right yet).
