It depends upon what style you want to play & your amp. However, just to start with the guitar you mention, it has a bridge pickup (closest to the bridge) & a neck pickup (closest to the neck!). The 3-way switch can be set to:

1. Neck pickup.
2. Both pickups.
3. Bridge pickup.

Each pickup has 2 knobs: one volume & one tone. That's why you have 4 knobs.

The best place to start is to turn all the knobs up to 10 & the amp on very low & with a clean (non-distorted) setting. That will give you a baseline understanding of what your guitar sounds like completely unaffected.

Now you are ready to have a look at this tutorial on basic tone!

The Epiphone Es-339 P90 Pro has coil splitting humbuckers through your push pull tone knobs That give you a few more tone selection at your finger tips..
I like to do my volume Chris's method..

I think the "P90" designation indicates single coil P90's. That, or this is a naming coincidence LOL.

If that's the case, there will be no push/pull knobs.

Congrats on your first electric!

Guitar: Tone knob all the way up. Neck pickup for leads and solos. Bridge pickup for power chords, pinch harmonics, and twang. A mix of both pickups for rhythm and textured melodies.

Amp: Try playing around with the knobs. There is no right or wrong way, but start with the bass knob and play an open E chord or some bass notes and roll the knob until you hear a noticeable drop/increase in the response. That's the sweet spot. Then try the mids with an A chord or Am pentatonic scale, look for the sweet spot again. That should get you started.

It's also important to know what style you play. Changes how much fiddling you need to do.
