It depends upon what style you want to play & your amp. However, just to start with the guitar you mention, it has a bridge pickup (closest to the bridge) & a neck pickup (closest to the neck!). The 3-way switch can be set to:

1. Neck pickup.
2. Both pickups.
3. Bridge pickup.

Each pickup has 2 knobs: one volume & one tone. That's why you have 4 knobs.

The best place to start is to turn all the knobs up to 10 & the amp on very low & with a clean (non-distorted) setting. That will give you a baseline understanding of what your guitar sounds like completely unaffected.
