When it comes to computers, I'm kinda stupid so please be kind when I ask this question. How do you guys get the sound when I listen to a trick. I would love to let others here me play but I don't know how you guys and gals do it. Would somebody please explain this process to me? Do I need to buy this "GoldWave"? Well thanks for everyones time and tricks. Later, Wes

You need to have some kind of device to tweak the sound before you go inside your audio card. The best would be some kind of thing like the POD, or the Sansamp, the good would be a multi effects (like zooms etc...)the not so good would be a pedal (a distortion etc...)
Then you need to have some kind of software to record yourself to. I use cool edit pro. Then you save it as an mp3, then you are done.

I don't know what goldwave is. If it's a software, well, you don't need to buy this one, but you'll need one anyways.

You can download the demo from their website,
I dont know for how long you can use it, but mine is
still working.

You dont have to have like POD devices,
I have the "Sound Recorder" that comes with Windows XP
and a 2$ mic, and that works quite well.
Ok it has its limitations, but it works.

The easiest way is to get a little adaptor so your normal guitar cable fits into your mic socket, you don't need to use any effects, but you'll have to play with your amp a little n use sound recorder which is a standard thing on all Windows. It's in:

Start
Programs
Accesories
Entertainment

It has a little speaker icon.

Or alternatively you can download Goldwave, I did n used it quite a bit. I found it very easy to use. But I had to wipe my hard drive n lost all my music files (not because of GW). So to all you computer recorders BACK UP YOUR RECORDED MUSIC!!!
I would get used to the simple set up before adding any kind of pedal. And if you manage to get a program like Goldwave you can add effects on there (although there not as good). But for a novice using the programs effects is a good start, plus you don't have wires all over the place.

Remember, the chickens that fly will always beat the rubber plants that bounce!

Thanks to everyone who replied to me. I wasn't aware that Windows xp had a sound recorder. I tried it and it works great. Thanks again.
