I am 60 and trying to play again. I was in a band when I was much younger. But now I have trouble getting my fingers from one string to another. I am not giving up. My will play Smoke On The Water by this Christmas.

I'm 67 and been playing about 10 years. My instructor said that starting to play as an adult has to reset my expectations, especially when you see a teenager shredding a song on you tube.
I love learning songs and playing along with them. I have no expectations to play in a band except maybe when I turn 80 and then I'll call it:
"The Octengenariens"
Bottom line is just enjoy the learning and playing.

Hi guy's, 53, I'm a perpetual beginner. Took lessons as a 16 year old and again in my mid twenties. The old guitar would sit idle for years then I would find some time to pick it up and try to re train my fingers. My son started taking lessons a few years ago and watching his progression spurred me on once again. I really like this site, doing the basic picking styles at present by Lisa McCormick, great instructor. Couldn't agree more, hang in there! Smoke On The Water, right on!

It's never too late to play the guitar!
My grandfather just quit his swing band at the young age of 89, due to "lack of time", haha. Anyway, he was playing shows a few times a year until this summer. :)
