I am in Fundamentals 2, scales. How much should I practice scales before moving on? I can do them ok (a bit faster each day) up and down and alternate pretty well. Should I move on to other lessons only when I can do them really fast or should I keep on going with other lessons ( and keep in practicing scales as well).

Thanks

Lessons are not to be taken or viewed once and then considered done. When they are reviewed new things click you missed the first time or simply didn’t understand. So I say move on from the scales, but come back to them like lessons and continue to practice. With that said, I also want to say this site offers so much it will be easy to try to advance too fast. Try not to do that,

Think of it like being a carpenter and you just built your first dog house. Just because you can measure a piece of wood and cut it and hammer it together with nails, does not mean you should now try to build a house. There are a lot of little tricks and things to learn before you jump up to building a house. Keep moving forward, but build a good base to draw from before moving forward on your guitar.

It's okay to go forward to new lessons in any course once you understand the material & are competent at the skill. It sounds like you can play the scales, so I'd say you are ready for the next step!

However, keep in mind that as guitarists, we are never done practicing. Chords, scales, songs all require practice & repetition for as long as we play the guitar! So, keep revisiting those scale practice exercises. Make them a part of your regular practice routine.

And thanks to haghj500 for the great answer!
