Type of Strings

I'm a newbie currently in the second section of the core learning system. What suggestion do you have type of strings and why? Acoustic.

I'll tell you my preference and you can try them if you like.
I use Elixirs... I am not in their sales dept. and make no commission on anything. Elixir are the original coated strings and in my eyes they last a long time. They are a bit more expensive than many other strings but I don't have to change or buy them as often.
I think they sound great on my acoustics. That's a combination that I like a lot, they sound great and last for a long time.
Let me know what you think if you try them.

Taylor apparently uses them stock on their guitars. A friend of mine that plays a lot of acoustic swears by them. Definitely worth giving them a try.

Elixir is a great company to do business with. I use Elixir on my a/e. Polyweb medium .013 to .056. They maybe a bit heavy for a beginner.
Find size/dia for your guitar.
I use D'addario on my electric.
Both good brands in my book..

I'm using 11s on my acoustics and 10s on my electric.
Acoustic guitars can be very delicate I would be very careful about putting anything too heavy on an acoustic.
Also is you change your string gauge you may need to tweak the truss rod to help compensate for the change.

I have just replaced my acoustic with Elixers ( as recommended from a guitar shop)
They sound fantastic.

I use both Elixir acoustics and electric strings.
The acoustic strings have been my go to since Day 1. I usually opt for the phospher bronze ones as I like the feel of those better then the Polyweb.
For electric strings, I have tried every kind of string you can imagine. I settled on Elixir 11's as I sweat a lot, and those strings seem to be able to hold up with that. The extra coating makes it so it can endure the extra acidity, and most importantly I really like how the strings feel and sound.
Hopefully that helps, and good luck! :D

Ever since I can remember I've been stringing up with D'Addario .09 -.046.
I switched over to Dean Markley Blue Steel (same gauge )for a while but switched back.
Since I've gotten my new guitar that came equipped .10-.46 I've been slapping those on. They seemed a little thick at first, but they are starting to grow on me.
All in all it's up to you...Try different brands / gauges. Whatever feels good for you...that's what you should go with.

I am going to put some Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings on tonight. Will see what difference it makes form the Fender brand 9's.

definately try as many brands as you can and see which ones feel best to you. Personally i use Rotosound 10-46 on my electrics, been using them for years now and seem to be a god balance of tone and playability for me.
