Also, I have looked online at various forums and some people state that with Guitar Tricks, you can download lessons and watch them offline. This would really be ideal for me as my internet at home is quite slow and bad. Can someone confirm this is possible? If it is, what is to stop someone from downloading all the lessons and not having to resubscribe?
Free Trial Frustrating
Hi, I just joined for free access, but am somewhat frustrated because it seems there are only 24 lessons that are free and the rest is restricted to fully subscribed (paid) members. I thought that getting free access meant I would have full access to all lessons for a defined period (eg 14 or 30 days). I'm trying to compare this to other competitors that do give free and full access, but this limitation makes it difficult. It would be nice to be able to review lessons quickly and get a feel for them and make sure it suits my expectations.

Try the full membership. Money back guarantee. Give you plenty of time to evaluate GuitarTricks..
Lessons are downloadable, and no a non member can not download lesson.
Song tutorials ARE NOT downloadable.
Some other sites may fit you better, but none that I have seen have the quality and quantity that Guitar Tricks has.

There's nothing stopping anybody from doing that, but there is more to it than just the lessons. There is a "paid subscribers only" area to the forum where you can post questions to the instructors and they will do everything they can to answer your question to your satisfaction. If a particular instructor is on tour or otherwise busy, other instructors will chime in. They will take on song lessons questions and questions that are outside of what is taught here. They really go above an beyond.
You also have access to a guitar tech who will answer any questions you may have about guitar setup, amps, problems you may be having with your guitar, your amp, etc. He is awesome - he's helped me and many others a LOT and saved me a number of trips to the local guitar repair guy.
As compart1 suggests, sign up for the 1 month free trial and see what you think. You can even sign up on a month-by-month basis and cancel after 2 months if you decide to.
Personally I think this site is worth every penny it costs me. They've really helped me bring my playing up to a whole new level. The song lessons are a treasure trove which I've been really digging into lately learning songs for my band.

I sign for one month...after one month my progress went so well that I decide to pay a full year menbership after. GT is one of the best online guitar learning sites.

They run specials also where a year membership will be $99 rather than the regular full cost.

This is an awesome site with so much to delve into. There is always something on the site that will be new and informative as to hold your interest in learning or playing the guitar.

Yes, as a full member you can download some lessons I have done it.
What stops you? Once you spend that much time on the site you will quickly find the site offers more than lessons. The teachers who made those lessons have a section you can ask them questions about the lesson and they answer. They are always adding more to the site. Do yourself a favor, buy one month and see where it leads.
As far a free sites go if you have not found JustinGuitar.com yet, it is worth checking out.

The one line where I quibble with maggior is in the last paragraph above. This site is worth far more than what it costs me. :D
Another feature...big for all of us, I believe -- the site keeps growing. New songs are added quarterly if not monthly, new tutorials and updates to old ones are not uncommon, and commentary on the forums sometimes leads to editing of current lessons. Guitar Tricks is a living site. The forums are vibrant. Jon and the instructors care about their product and about the members' progress.
So it seems to me.

You know, as I wrote that line, it crossed my mind that there is more value here compared to the cost!
We don't want to say that too loudly, or the prices will go up ;-).

What's wrong with you guys?! You wanting a price increase?
"This site is worth about half what we pay for it!"

It would just be nice if you could get a free trial with full access without having to firstly hand over your credit card details etc. Other competitors let you do this, so not sure why Guitartricks can't
