There's nothing stopping anybody from doing that, but there is more to it than just the lessons. There is a "paid subscribers only" area to the forum where you can post questions to the instructors and they will do everything they can to answer your question to your satisfaction. If a particular instructor is on tour or otherwise busy, other instructors will chime in. They will take on song lessons questions and questions that are outside of what is taught here. They really go above an beyond.

You also have access to a guitar tech who will answer any questions you may have about guitar setup, amps, problems you may be having with your guitar, your amp, etc. He is awesome - he's helped me and many others a LOT and saved me a number of trips to the local guitar repair guy.

Personally I think this site is worth every penny it costs me. They've really helped me bring my playing up to a whole new level. The song lessons are a treasure trove which I've been really digging into lately learning songs for my band.
