Hi all!

Just joined up and I'm really excited to spend some time here learning from what seems to be a great collection of talented musicians. Thanks!

Hey Erik!

I'm pretty sure you're gonna love this site. I've been using it for about 6 months now and have learned a lot. What kind of music do you like to play?

Right on man, thanks! Right now I'm working on a mix of the following bands..

Rage Against the Machine
Incubus
A Perfect Circle
Red Hot Chili Peppers
System of a Down
Eminem
Limp Bizkit
Linkin Park
Alice in Chains

And I'm sure theres a few others I'm forgetting but these are the main influences.

Thanks for asking. How about you?

Aloha,
Erik-

I like a lot of those bands too. I love learning Chili Pepper songs. And I'm a big SOAD fan. They clearly do not care about doing stuff that's WAY different and it works for them. I think their first album is the best, and then Toxicity is second best.

I also like to play death metal and neo-classical.

Welcome!!! Some great taste in music there - AiC and APC are amongst my favorite bands. I would love to learn how to play some Chains!!

Sounds great guys!

Yea learning AiC is fun. Singing it can be a little tricky though ;)
Same goes for singing pretty much anything Maynard sings (APC), his voice is nuts!

Obviously I love the guitar parts in all those bands and I've recently come to the realization I'm a guitarist, first and for most, my vocal abilities are too wanting as of now... but still I try.

I'm also into metal. You gotta metal up once in a while.

Best,
Erik-

Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell could harmonize like nobody else. That was such a unique sound. Layne's vocals with Mad Season were awesome too. Layne, yet another incredible talent the world has lost to suicide :-(. Sorry...Robin Williams on my mind... :-(.

Maynard it incredible too. I'm a huge Tool fan too!

My skill stops with the guitar too. In my high school garage band, I distinctly remember the moment that my best friend and bandmate came over and took my microphone away from me while we were playing My Generation! I'm sure I could learn, but I've never really had the desire.
