If you take your left hand, then spread the fingers apart, notice that the pinkie finger is pointing APPX 2 PM position.
Now when I very slowly try to curl all 4 fingers, the little finger starts to lay on it's side.
I had several non players try that and all 4 of their fingers are straight in the top string.
I just cannot do those 4 finger exercises until i'm down on the 3rd string.
As for playing I have not much use for the small finger on the upper strings but it bothers me that I can't for the finger exercises.
Anyone else have this problem?
Than you

PS: I tried putting this on U tube but after I made up an account,I sign out and 3 minutes later my passwrod is no good.
After 5 tries I gave up.

Mine do exactly the same thing. I'm surprised that so many "non players" didn't see the same thing. I would think it's a natural thing.

You have to work with what you got. Some people were born with mile long fingers that can bend any which way. Others were born with stubby fingers. Both can make it work on the guitar. Tommy Iommi from Black Sabbath had part of one of his fingertips chopped off and still managed to have a decent career as a professional guitarist.

Thanks maggior,
I showed players and non players and their little finger pointed way out but laid nice and flat on the fret board.
I'm not going to worry about it because that finger is starting to harden up on the side.
If you put your mind to it you can do anything.
Thanks for responding.

Hey, Bob! I don't know if this will help your pinky's direction. But this will help give it some strength & dexterity.
