I have been looking to beef up my axe with an EMG 81 in the bridge of my left handed fender strat. I was thinking of putting an EMG 85 in the neck (zakk wylde style). But I was wondering if that is indeed possible. I cant think of any reason why it wouldnt be but i'm not an expert yet as far as electronics goes.

Thanks,

Phil Charron

i think we had a small discusion on left handed pickups (i'm left handed my self)...
An Emg pick up will be fine, as the are no parts raised on the pick up (it's got a flat top), which would make it right handed baised... so I would say there should be no problems with it...
good luck...

don't know why i didn't notice this thread before  The pickups (any pickup) will be in the right relation the others [they are not "handed"]

1.) If it's put in correctly -

ie, with single coils the part with the leads faces the bridge, humbuckers usually having the screws toward the neck at the neck pickup and right next to the bridge at the bridge.

2.) It's put in the right place-

neck pickup in neck position (etc) mainly to make sure the strings cross the polls properly and the polarity is correct. Middles on strats generally are reverse wound /reverse polarity (RW/RP) to give hum cancelling in p 2 and 4 on the selector.

3.) It's wired correctly -

make sure the new white wire goes where the old white lead went, etc.

;)

Strat wiring is a right larf as long as you remember the golden rules..

1.get a diagram

2.get a diagram

3.get the switch positions right
