So glad to have joined, New at 60
Hi everyone, been here one day now and very excited. I am bare bones beginer. My goal is to be able to play with my brother who has played years. I have started at the begining with Christfor S, teachings. I love them. My question is should I bounce around a bit or just stick to the fundmentals in order as taught and only progress when I can nail the lesson. Thank you all. looking so forward to this chalage at 60 years old saturday last. This was my present to myself.

Here's a strong vote for sticking with Christopher and the Fundamentals course. And IMO, you should have each lesson down pretty well 'cause the next ones build on what you learned and your hands' newfound skills. For the same reason, I believe you should go through the Fundamental lessons in the order they're presented.
But as your skills grow, e.g., around the time you get open chords down, there's nothing wrong with bouncing around to some 'easy' songs or adding other stuff to your practice sessions like chord progressions.
Others may suggest a different approach but I think we all agree that the key is to keep growing your skills and keep having fun.
And welcome!!

john thanks so much. Sounds if you speak from personal experience. thats great what little time Iv'e had with the course and Chris I can say I have already learned much more than I thought posible for the little time invested to this point. Don't misunderstand I realize it takes time, it is just that it is understandable for me thus far and thats a good thing. Happy playing, your new old friend. bb

I have been playing for years off and on. My skills never really progressed much because I go for awhile then put the guitar down for a few years. I really wanna stick with it this time. I am 58 yoa. I started playing when I was in my thirties on an acoustic, but I am still at the beginner level. I want to learn to play electric lead because I like all kinds of music and I love the creativity of lead guitar. I am planning on buying a new Fender in the near future. I still have an acoustic which I have just recently picked up again after about a year hiatus. Sigh. Well, nice meeting you and I hope you keep at it and realize your goal.

hi allijoe, I would def recommend sticking to the course, you'll benefit the most this way as a beginner. But that doesn't mean you can't peak around and see what else you like just make sure and stay on track with the course in the meantime. :)
